The Richard Mille RM17-02 Manual Winding Tourbillon was introduced quietly on social media and is limited to only 30 pieces worldwide. This exceptional timepiece features the same movement as the RM017 but is encased in a more “recognisable” and ultra-light Carbon TPT case, showcasing both innovation and elegance.
The case measures 48.15mm x 40.1mm x 13.8mm, providing a substantial yet comfortable presence on the wrist. The skeleton dial prominently displays hours, minutes, and seconds hands at the center, a 70-hour power reserve indicator at 2 o’clock, and a function indicator at 4 o’clock. The tourbillon cage, enhanced by a ceramic endstone, is positioned just above 6 o’clock, while the mainspring barrel at 12 o’clock creates a symmetrical and balanced design.
The hand-wound tourbillon movement is a marvel of horological engineering. The baseplate and bridges are crafted from grade 5 titanium alloy, a material commonly used in aerospace and automotive industries for its strength and lightness. The meticulous hand-finishing on the bridges, countersinks, and hands elevates the industrial aesthetic to a work of art. The hour markers and minute track are painted in a striking shade of yellow-gold, floating on a thick 0.3mm sapphire crystal. This vibrant contrast against the wavy black and grey case creates a breathtaking visual effect as light interacts with the various surfaces of the watch.
The RM17-02 is powered by a meticulously crafted hand-wound movement, which includes a 70-hour power reserve. The tourbillon’s precision and the intricate mechanics are on full display through the skeletonized dial, embodying Richard Mille’s commitment to transparency and craftsmanship. This limited edition Richard Mille RM17-02 Manual Winding Tourbillon not only showcases cutting-edge technology but also represents a fusion of traditional watchmaking artistry and modern design. It is a highly coveted piece among collectors and enthusiasts, embodying the pinnacle of horological excellence.
